The City of Falls Church Police Department is hiring motivated individuals who are looking to start a career as a police officer. Once hired with the City of Falls Church Police Department and as a recruit attending the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy, you will receive a full-time salary and City employee benefits that includes health, dental, vacation and sick leave, plus a generous retirement plan specifically for uniformed public safety officers.

Hiring and Selection Process:
The City of Falls Church Police Department is currently recruiting Police Officer I candidates to attend the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy (NVCJTA) starting in January 2026.
There is a multi-phase hiring and selection process to determine applicant eligibility for becoming an officer with the City of Falls Church Police Department. Applicants must pass each phase of the process to be considered as a candidate eligible for hire. For applicants interested in attending the July 2025 NVCJTA session, the timeline for the hiring and selection process is as follows:
Salary and Benefits
The salary for newly hired Police Officers starts at $68,415.20 (effective July 1, 2025). Lateral hires (candidates who are currently certified law enforcement officers) may be eligible for a higher starting salary based on years of service. Police Officers who work between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM are eligible for additional shift pay differential.
