Job Overview

Proctors play an integral role in the Senate Page Program, ensuring the residence life of Senate Pages is safe and structured. They supervise pages, enforce the Page Program code of conduct and guidelines, respond to misconduct, plan field trips and activities, coordinate meals, and act in loco parentis for medical appointments and emergencies. They also perform office administrative duties such as answering phone lines, handling emails, and maintaining workplace standards. This livein, shiftbased position includes oncall responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative duties: create and update program templates, answer phone calls (24/7 line) and emails, oversee the facility during shifts, submit work orders and maintenance requests, participate in meetings and trainings, order supplies, and support the office in an EA role.

Residency responsibilities: supervise pages, keep track of whereabouts via a digital platform, provide guidance, emotional support, and conflict resolution, conduct orientation, provide medical first aid, and respond to emergencies.

Policy enforcement: enforce code of conduct, conduct room inspections, assign demerits and merits, assist in disciplinary investigations, record notes from interviews.

Meal and activity coordination: plan and supervise meals, purchase groceries, purchase and track gift cards for weekend meals, plan field trips and educational activities, lead weekly meetings and spontaneous events.

Job Specifications

  • Required Education: Bachelors Degree
  • Required Work Experience: 13 years working with student populations or inresidence halls
  • Required Special Skills/Knowledge: Emergency response training, Mandatory Reporting, CPR certification; possible skills assessment during hiring process
  • Oncall responsibilities

Desired Qualifications

Strong residence life experience with adolescent or collegeage populations; ability to work independently while collaborating with a team on event planning; strong initiative and drive; altruistic, highly responsible, and a model of appropriate behavior.

Working Conditions

  • Onsite presence during Senate sessions, including government shutdowns, inclement weather, holidays, and overnight or weekend sessions
  • Availability for late evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 25lb.
  • Moderate activity and exposure to biohazards
